Chapter Nine

On Sunday morning, Koji stared at his reflection in the bathroom mirror. The man who looked back at him was not the same man who’d come to the White Tiger nearly a week ago. The dark circles under his eyes had faded. He’d put on a bit of weight and his complexion had colour in it now.

All thanks to Naoto.

The last few days had been like a kind of heaven, not that the first few days hadn’t been either. After he’d arisen from his crash of sleep, Naoto had spent plenty of time lounging around with him, pleasuring him, bathing him, as well as posing for a million drawings. Naoto had told him much more about this place and about the Way of the White Tiger, taking plenty of time to show him all the techniques of caressing, licking, sucking and kissing, the path taught a practitioner. They’d also soaked in the bath and gone to Ryu’s fight the night before, holding hands in the cab back to the White Tiger, then celebrating Ryu’s win with champagne.

There was truly something magical about Naoto and about this place. He’d thought he was just going to stay at a hotel to relax. The White Tiger was the first place Koji had ever felt really comfortable and free. The thought of leaving and go back to the world made his heart ache.

Sadly, there was nothing he could do about it. He had to go back to his life.

With a sigh, he went back into the bedroom. His heart thumped when he saw the tissue paper wrapped gift he’d bought for Naoto. Of course, he’d put a generous gratuity in the discreet envelope provided, but that couldn’t possibly be enough. Nothing he could give or do would repay Naoto’s kindness to him this week. Naoto had probably saved his life.

Sinking down onto the bed, he picked up the gift and stared down at it.

A light knock came on the door. “Koji-san? It’s me.”

Koji rose. “Come in.” His heart sped up as Naoto slid back the door and walked in.

The larger man’s eyes looked distinctly sad even though he wore a smile. “I came to help you pack your things.”

“No need. I did it a minute ago. Would you like to sit down?” He gestured to the bed, making himself aware of the object in his hand. He had to give Naoto the gift now, before he lost his nerve. “This is for you.”

Naoto’s eyes widened. “A gift?”

“Yes.” Koji held it out with both hands.

“Koji-san, that was so kind of you.” Naoto accepted it and smiled at him. “Should I open it now?”

Koji’s cheeks burned. What would Naoto think when he saw it? He had to know. After he left the White Tiger, he might never see the man again. “If you’d like.”

Naoto sank to a kneeling position and Koji sat in front of him on the bed. Koji watched Naoto’s thick fingers pull at the tape on the tissue paper and unwrap the item.
